Saturday, February 5, at 18.00, in Cosenza, Palazzo Arnone, inauguration of OPERA OPEN. The restoration of St. Augustine of Mattia Preti reveals the secrets of a masterpiece , educational site dedicated to the restoration of the painting recently purchased by the rich collection of paintings to raise MiBAC pretiana the National Gallery of Cosenza. Cosenza, the dating remains uncertain, is preserved in the Abbey of Montecassino. This is a copy taken from a painting by Claude Vignon probably executed in Rome between 1617 and 1624. Another copy is in Dublin at the National Gallery of Ireland. The St. Augustine is presumably dating from sixth to seventh decade of the seventeenth century in the years when he returned to Mattia Preti meditate on previous work experience an initial orientation to the essential.
